I have a 200A main panel. I have configured all 16 CTs on various loads in the panel. I also have one 50A 240V breaker feeding my solar into the main panel. Since I have an Enphase app that already reports solar production, utility import and export, I didn’t place any CTs on the solar breaker.
Obviously my usage will be greater than the utility import as reported by the Emporia Vue Gen 2 200A CTs. Is there anything I need to do to properly configure the Emporia Vue Gen 2 in my environment?
Thanks.

The Gen 2 Vue is capable of net metering solar generation. The 200A sensors that are included with the device are directional and can measure any energy that is generated in excess of your consumption – as long as the sensors are installed between your utility meter and the solar input to your system. You can check out our Solar Supplemental Guide for more details on how the device needs to be installed to monitor a solar system.
You can also use the 50A sensors that come with the Gen 2 bundle to measure the amount of energy generated by your solar system (this is not required for net metering, though). Once setup, your Gen 2 Vue will show excess net generation as green numbers and green bars on the graphs. Net consumption will display asblue numbers and bars.More information: https://help.emporiaenergy.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408877088023-Solar-Monitoring

So, in Setup, with my Vue 3, if I decide to not use 50A CTs on my solar feeds (line-side taps) as I currently have, do I still need to acknowledge that I do have solar power being generated? What happens in the setup and the resulting data display if I say that I don’t have solar? Like davidawolf, I also have an Enphase system that provides all I need to know about solar production and net metering. What I seek in the Emporia EMS is what the Enphase app cannot provide: detailed, dissected information about household consumption for individual devices and circuits. Ideally, I would like to get from the Vue 3 a record of total consumption, both in real time and over expanded time frames. Right now, with 50A CTs being employed as solar sensors, I am not really getting total consumption, only net production or net usage. In fact, “total usage” appears to add solar production to the sum of household consumption, which appears to be represented as “balance” (i.e., solar production is displayed as a percentage of total usage). There is no total consumption figure that is displayed and graphed, as the total of all 16 circuit CTs, although the “balance” figure is at least displayed. I would love to have total consumption from the Vue 3 for comparison to the values that the Enphase app displays. Is it possible that this value will in fact be displayed if I say that I don’t have solar and don’t attempt to measure it with 50A CT’s?

If you do not have CTs on ALL the breaker in the panel, the balance will never be right as the grid CT see the true grid import / export, but all the various consumption generation are not being monitored.
You can still make the total of all the CTs that are monitoring the house to find out your home consumption, but you need to do that manually in excel.
