I put a couple of CTs on the feed lines from my portable generator. During an outage, I unplug the A/B CTs from my utility and plug in the ones from the generator.
When I did this, I had some strange readings. One of the supply CTs claimed it was returning energy to the grid (to the generator). A green colored negative reading. I checked to make sure the generator feed CTs were both oriented correctly, and they are.
However I found that on generator, the Vue2’s power supply leads were plugged into the same phase of the generator. I would have expected it to not work at all in this case? But the monitor was functioning pretty nicely …. except for giving wrong readings. Would that be explained by my mistake?
