Currently, it is too easy to turn off a plug just by scrolling up and down the view screen.

For some that are used just for metering, we do not need the on/off button.

I second this request.  I want to monitor a freezer with the smart plug and it is way too easy to accidentally turn the plug off when navigating the main screen.  It doesn’t really matter what is plugged in, it is way too vulnerable to accidentally turning on or off unintentionally.

I thought for the freezer to set a schedule to turn the plug back on every hour if it were accidentally turned off, but that isn’t what I want.  Right now my smart plugs sit in the box as I contemplate if they’re worth the risk if inadvertently turning off.

I third this.    Even better, make a less-smart socket that just does monitoring.

Hello @currentdraw @Mark @jj613 this feature enhancement is on the development task list and will be released as soon as possible.   Thanks for your input everyone!

I fourth this. Also just bought some plugs, one to monitor a freezer and I’m not going to use it unless there’s a way to disable the ability to turn it off.

Another vote for this. I’m not as worried about accidentally turning outlets off in the app though. In my case, I also want to make sure none of my connected accounts (Google, Amazon, etc) turn certain devices off.

That is a must have to be able to monitor power use of things that cannot be mistakenly shut off like Freezers and Refrigerators.

Are there any updates to this feature as the last comment seemed to be almost one year ago. I would buy multiple outlets if this feature was supported.

Yes,  we are all still waiting for that feature!  I had to buy Square D outlets for my fridge and freezer as they have that feature.  SQR441U1WHW Now if only emporia would OEM that.   It also supports WPA3.  One outlet is switched and the other isn’t and both are power monitored.

Another vote for this feature! I want to monitor my home office, but obviously do not want to turn off my modem or router!

I would also buy several for those circuits that have multiple loads that I want to measure/monitor that and don’t want to toggle off.

Recently I was told this “feature” is NOT on their list to be done.  I have started looking for a different vendor that understands what is critical and what’s not.  I can only imagine what “is” on their priority list..

Here is a link to their recent response to me about disabling the on/off function for certain smart plugs..  https://imgur.com/a/gNv9HEw

to be fair the original ask was focussed on not being able to accidentally toggle on/off from the Home Screen. That feature has been delivered

To ‘lock’ the plug in a certain state is a firmware update not an app update. The app does have the option to avoid turning the plug off by mistake by toggling the home screen control off in the app.

Tap the plug outlet Icon on the home page, then Confirm the Control from Home page is off. This will require the user to go through two steps to turn the plug off.
