Hello All, First time poster, installed my unit the other month and have been gathering data, one thing I’ve noticed is that the balance always seems to be 2-3 times what I ‘seem’ to be using, Is this normal? Am I missing something (I am sure I am) I’ve checked the CT’s and they all seem to be around the right way, I’ve had to adjust the multiplier a little, the solar array seems to be about 1.05-1.08 out according to its own self monitoring app, so I thought it would be good to do this for all the devices, when devices are turned on, they draw power, I have smart plugs on a lot of devices and the numbers add up, just curious what the balance is and why its always so much!

The balance is showing you the power for the circuits you don’t have circuit clamps on.  In your photo above, you have some other non-monitored devices drawing 752W, or 62% of the total 1.195kW for your home.

Howdy! This is very strange, because I have 17 Circuits, 16 of which are monitored, and the only one that is not, is a Powerpoint in the meter box, which has nothing connected!

Could anything else possibly be causing the issue? I Guess it would be a process of elimination, remove everything and plug them into known reporting ports one at a time, could be a faulty CT, could be a faulty port?

Good to know, it gives me something to start looking for

If you have a photo of your install, sometimes the issue is obvious.

I’m having a similar issue on one of my subpanels where I have solar present; hoping that when I move the Emporia to its own breaker, it might help.

One thing though… you mentioned you set your solar multiplier to just over 1.x. Is your solar 120 V, or 240 V w/ two lines out (assuming North America). If you have a CT on only one of the lines out from the solar setup, that multiplier should be 2. I have one CT per line from my PV setup (in hope that someday we can combine circuits), so Solar L1 and Solar L2. I have every single circuit in my sub monitored and still have a mystery balance going on… which leads me to suspect some weird setup / accounting issue.

Other than that though, maybe a CT is connected, but the direction is swapped (so not measuring a load) or some other issue is happening… your Vue is convinced that the main clamps are measuring just over 1 kW and that it can’t find the missing power when it adds up all connected CTs.

Perhaps your balance is coming from the unmonitored second leg of a 240V circuit? If a 240V circuit has a neutral I believe it can be unbalanced. When I was setting up my system I found that my Dryer was unbalanced, the heating element came off one leg and the drum motor off the other (mostly) — had to play around with which leg to put the CT and the correct multiplier to get the best result.
