While the primary use of emporium equipment might be power monitoring you could probably make more money selling the plug in monitors with robust notifications options.
I love watching the wattage or dollar cost of my equipment in real time with the software, but over a few years you make your biggest improvements with monitoring and the value is in notifications BECAUSE our interactions with any electric device is also a datapoint you can use for cost savings and automation.
We need better notifications that can email and text and have other flexible ways to notify and ideally even trigger other events safely.
This way when my dryer goes off or such I can get a more announcements options or if something is left on we have flexible alerts. Maybe even integrate into smart speakers notifications one day.
Think about all the data points of everyday use of dishwashers, dryers, plug in heaters, TVs and you have a lot of potential just with better notifications and tons more uses than just that as long as the notifications are a little more robust.
If your wifi plugs had those standout notifications qualities along with the full breaker panel expansion option Emporium as a company should be able to gobble up a lot more Wi-Fi plug sales and perhaps be the clear market leader. Obviously a much smaller demographic is interested in installing stuff in their circuit panel so that’s why I’m trying to highlight how a better notification system could drive sales and get you in millions of homes.

To be clear I mean like email, integrated beeper or simple speaker capable of multiple tones, other push options, maybe SMS, smart speaker integration, calendar reminder integration…stuff like that added to notifications.
ideally notifications that are not all phone dependent also, because not everybody lives with their phone in their hand at all times.
Selectable audio alerts the phone might be the easiest option to implement, but you can’t go wrong with a couple extra methods. Audio is often better than visual since ears are 360 and go around walls and eyes do not.

This is great feedback and certainly can see the value in adding notifications more obvious through other channels as well as visual and audio clues.
