I’ve got a Vue that’s a few months old that I can’t reset the Wifi on. I changed the password on my access point, so I went through the procedure of resetting the Wifi settings on the Vue. I pressed and held the reset button for eight seconds until the LED was blinking fast. As soon as I released the button, the LED started blinking slowly, then after a few second, it stopped blinking and remained on, like it was connected to Wifi. I don’t know what it’s connecting to, I’ve even turned my access point off so there’s nothing for it to find.
In the Emporia app, I’ve removed the device from my account and tried to setup a new one. After pressing the reset button and picking “My Emporia Vue is Ready” in the app, the app finds it and shows the right ID number, but after a while I get a “Device Disconnected” message.
I’ve tried resetting it many times, and unplugged it for a while and tried again. Nothing is working so far.
Has anyone else had this happen?

Might there be an unsecured WiFi access point nearby that it’s connecting to before you have a chance to reconfigure it ? If so, you’d probably be able to see it using any other WiFi client device.

I didn’t think of that. So I checked what access points were in range with a Wifi scanner app on my phone, and there are no open ones nearby, at least that my phone can see. Should that matter though? If I’m resetting the Vue, it shouldn’t try to connect until I use the app to tell it which Wifi to use.

Seemed like it was worth trying. At this point, you should probably contact support. They don’t seem to check the community forums very often. Perhaps the device is defective.

Guess I’ll do that then. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t anything I was doing wrong.

For the benefit of others, please post back here after you find out more from support.

@emp2211 please do contact our support directly and we can walk through the troubleshooting steps with you. This could be a firmware/hardware failure and if that is the case we can replace the Vue Utility Connect.
