There are two kinds of alerts you have: “usage exceeds xyz amount for xyz time” and “usage is less than or equal to xyz amount for xyz time”. However, what would be great is a “usage returned to near-zero after significant usage”.
I have my dishwasher on a dedicated circuit. When it runs, it cycles between pulling 25W and 1240W. Then, at the end of a cycle it drops to effectively 0 watts. It would be nice to be able to set the Vue up so that when it sees that a circuit that was pulling power went to zero usage, that it could send an alert that the cycle was done.
This would be useful for allowing notifications for many major appliances (washer, dryer, dishwasher, microwave, etc).
This idea was spawned from https://hackaday.com/2024/04/07/the-easy-way-to-make-a-smart-appliance/ where someone hacked it together from a smart plug and Home Assistant, but Emporia has all of those pieces, just not the right alerts.
