Hi, I am trying to trouble shoot my installation and it would help of there were definitions provided for these terms. Maybe they are somewhere, but I couldn’t find them. I think I have it sussed out, but would like confirmation:
Total Usage: This is the sum of the 16 50-Amp CTs that you have connected to the Vue.
Net Usage: This is the Total Usage minus the solar production (and only displays if you have solar/generator).
Balance: This is the difference between what the 200-Amp CTs on the mains sense and the Total Usage. If balance is in green, this means that you are producing? Not sure what it means or how it’s calculated (when green). This is part of my trouble shooting. See screenshot below. The green balance is Total usage minus Net Usage minus Solar 1 minus Solar 2, but I’m not grokking this as I am not producing over 5 kW of power.
Sensed Usage: This is the power sensed by the 200-Amp CTs on the mains. And is not actually displayed anywhere unless you select Amps as the “Unit of Measurement” (but it should be available in kW).

Hello,
yeah the balance does not seem right, my balance is not green but the same colour as the loads. When I set mine up and did not have a high enough load goofy things happened. Did you have >3kw of load when it was set up? If not you may want to try resetting the unit and try again; a pain I know well.

Hi, here are some insights that should help!
Total usage: is the total energy consumption of the home, and it includes also utility-sourced and solar production. It’s the combined total of all of the 200A CT’s connected to the device. This may change to a Net Usage/Net Production value if you have solar or generation happening in the system. The total from the meter, when you’re set to Watts is the Total Usage.
Net Production: Total Solar + Total Usage. The Net metering indicates that you are currently producing more solar power than your home is consuming.
Net usage: the difference between total production and total consumption. When consumption is higher than production, you’ll have Net Usage. If your production is higher than consumption, then you’ll have Net Production.
Balance: is the energy reported by the Mains (200A sensors) that is not being monitored by the 50A sensors. Balance is calculated by taking the sum of all the usage reported by the 50A sensors and subtracting that value from the total reported by the Mains during the same period.
