Running the Emporia Energy app on an Android emulator for Windows, Mac or Linux
As I had problems running the app for a while on my Android tablet, I needed an alternative to monitor my energy usage. An interesting solution is to use an Android emulator for Windows such as BlueStacks (bluestacks.com). There are also at least 2 other good free android emulators: NOX for Mac & Windows (bignox.com) and MEmu for PC (memuplay.com). These are the most promising ones for an easy installation on the Windows platform. There are also Android emulators available for the Mac & Linux platforms, but I didn’t used them. Most of these emulators have excellent graphic capabilities as they are intended to play Android games on desktop computers. I believe these emulators will unlock many new use cases of the Emporia Energy monitoring application.
Hey @douellet. we’ve used BlueStacks here at Emporia. It’s a solid emulator. What folks should know is that you can’t setup a Vue using a tool like this. It won’t have access to Bluetooth, which is required for onboarding. However, once up and running, this is definitely a great alternative. Thanks!
