I could see it making things overly complicated to configure.

I own a 12k generac automatic standby generator which means I have the bypass sub panel right next to the main panel.

I want to monitor the sub panel and that’s easy enough and put 2 sensors on 15&16 and listed them as a sub panel.

Here is where the feature comes in. I still also want to monitor parts of the sub panel like the refrigerator, deep freezer, furnace, well pump, etc which I also do. I ignore all the lighting circuits which I cover with them “mains” of the sub panel.

The problem is math. Since I have no way to say for example circuit 12, 13 and 14 is part of the sub panel on 15 and 16, the the app doubles the load count.

Right now the app say I have a negative 400w balance.

I could solve this I guess with a second monitor but that kind of sucks.

Yes, for the math to work correctly, you’d need a 2nd Vue2 for the sub-panel and sub-panel circuits.  Then you can nest the subpanel Vue2 under the main panel in the latest app.  It sounds like you only need the kit with the Vue2 and the mains clamps, and you can move your all your 50A subpanel clamps to the 2nd Vue2.  In the process you’ll end up with 2 spare 50A clamps since you’ll now monitor the subpanel feed with the 200A clamps of the 2nd Vue2.
