      Hi All,

A couple of months ago, I installed a Vue2 to monitor my power usage and try to identify why my bill is so much higher than my neighbors with the same model house. After the first month I compared the Vue2 readings to my electric bill, and to my surprise the Vue readings were even higher than my billed usage. I live in Florida, by the way.

Today I did a quick test – I found that with my A/C off the Vue mains reading was around 25% higher than the smart meter on the side of my house. With my A/C running, It was around 20% higher. I have 240V 200 Amp service. It’s a newer house, built in 2017.

I first tried to compensate for this by adjusting the multiplier to .75, but that doesn’t really work since the discrepancy fluctuates as much as 5-10% depending on the overall load across both legs of the mains.

How can I make my reading more accurate?

Is your AC on a dual pole breaker, if so, do you have a CT on each of the Two poles, or are you only monitoring one of the two pole and them multiplying?

If the pate, then the reading will most likely be wrong as I believe the AC may have an unbalanced load on both poles
