I just had a power failure for two hours.  Only source of power for me is utility, no solar or home generator.  When power was restored, for the entire two hour span, 340w was recorded on the mains during the one second interval as well as draw for the other time breakdowns.  On one of my branch lines 61w was measured at the one second interval for the entire two hours.

At the time of power failure, mains had over 3000w of load and that one branch line noted had 600w draw.  The Vue 2 was powered off during that time span too due to no power.  I would expect there to be 0w draw recorded during those times.

I have seen something similar to this as well.  It is easily reproducible by simply unplugging a CT sensor while it is measuring current.  It continues to show a load (less than what it was measuring) for a little while.  I will play around with this more tomorrow but that is what I recall it doing.

I seem to remember that when there is a power loss, the Emporia averages whatever was going on before the power outage and makes that the power outage consumption.  I’m not sure I agree with that.

      Hi @mark,

Sorry for the confusion about recording data when the power is out. The team here at Emporia is constantly working on the functionality regarding various conditions of downtime; including power outages, wifi outages, etc…

There are different situations where this problem can occur, and they usually revolve around the time difference between when the Vue receives power again (and begins recording) but the WiFi has yet to connect in order to send that data to the cloud. In these situations its possible that the data was averaged across the difference in timing between power and internet outage/service resumption. I’ll relay your details to the team at Emporia as a potential use case for this situation. If there is anything else we can help with, feel free to reach out. Thanks,

      Emporia Support Team
