My electrical setup is as follows:

      GO

I currently have a Vue (VUE 1) on the Main Disconnect panel with the 200a sensors around the feed from the meter. VUE 1 also has a single 50a sensor on the pool sub-panel. The rest of the breakers in the Main Disconnect are for the Vue itself and for a whole home surge protector – I expect low draw here. The pool sub-panel only has a pump right now triggered by a timer – this may change in the future. I do not plan to require monitoring of the pool sub-panel on the breaker level if an additional breaker is added for lighting.

I also have a Vue (VUE 2) on the House Sub-Panel. This was the old “main” panel prior to the pool install. When I purchased the home they had a tap off the main disconnect for a standalone breaker that was unsafe and the main disconnect was just that without any breaker slots. I’ve had it replaced properly to account for the details above. VUE 2 monitors the bulk of the home usage (minus pool). VUE 2 consists of 15 – 50a sensors.

      Highest priority install ask:

      • Is there any way to make VUE 2 a child of VUE 1? Currently VUE 1 has the ‘balance’ which is most of the house. I’d love to be able to remove the 200a monitors for VUE 2 and simply combine with VUE 1 so all readings are common for the home.

Secondary issues or items to address that I’ve noted:

      • VUE 1’s “balance” is not lining up to VUE 2’s “main”. I suspect the timer may be at fault here, although the difference for the last several weeks has been 15kW.
        • Originally I purchased 2 VUEs, one standard, and one with 16 sensors. I moved 1 sensor to the Main Disconnect. I have instead purchased 2 additional sensors via the Emporia store and will put these in the Main Disconnect to monitor both legs of the 240v breaker.
        • Should this still show a disconnect, I’ll pick up some additional monitors for the VUE and the Home Surge breakers.
      • VUE 2’s breaker box labels <> breaker assignments.
        • This has been a fun one – I have a new panel label and will be tracing things down this week. There are two AC units – two breakers, one for each air handler, and one breaker for a sub-panel to the two condensers. The labels are incorrect and when one unit is running the readings are off (shows both units on, and no condenser action). I currently am only monitoring 1 leg of each 240v breaker for all 3 of these, may need to re-evaluate in the future.
      • VUE 2 does not have enough sensors for all breakers.
        • I was reading on monitoring multiple breakers for 15a “light/plugs” type setup. I may join some up here.
        • I also picked up a set of Emporia smart plugs. I’d use these just to monitor energy. Goal is to put one on the TV/entertainment UPS, and one on the Internet/IT UPS as I expect both are the main ‘balance’ draws that are not being monitored.

Open to other thoughts & feedback, and if the “child” VUE setting is not an option yet, then this would be a nice feature I’d utilize!

I second this. I have similar setup to yours, but the main has only solar and AC. I cannot even use Vue there since there is no breaker for it. But I am using the Vue utility connect and would be nice nesting the one from the house under it. Or I may install another Vue in the future if I can figure out how to supplypower tomorrow.
