I don’t have a net metering agreement so I don’t have any Solar to export, however I do want to take advantage of my solar generation. The idea I had was to use peak shaving and set my limit to a low number, such as 500W to charge my EV on sunshine.

Unfortunately this only works “some” of the time. IT works fine when I have full sun and my regular home consumption never goes above my solar production, my EV charges and limits itself so I never draw more than 500W from the grid.

The problem I have is when I have a cloudy situation and the solar generation drops below my home consumption for times. In this scenario my EV just stops charging completely, which is expected, but it never resumes even after the sun comes back out, even if 15 minutes have passed and my peak has been below the set limit. The EV charging never picks back up again. Any way to put it on your bug list and get it fixed? This is a really important feature for me and the reason why I bought the Emporia EV charger.

Hi @GreTr thanks for sharing this feedback!   We haven’t tested a non-grid tied PV system under the peak demand energy management.   I have sent your specific feedback to our development team for review.

I have a similar situation where I cannot get the EV Charger to modulate with solar. I am grid tied. I do not know how this situation was resolved.

I will start a new thread.

I got my situation resolved with the help of support. It turns out, to use the solar charging feature the EV Charger needs to be PAUSED which I did not understand. All is good now.
