      Hello,

I installed Emporia ‘s level 2 vehicle charger, now considering Vue3 mainly to monitor circuits in a generator panel and need help determining what to buy.

      System Overview:

From meter, 200A load center w/ 42 openings feeds:

1 x 60A basement sub panel (not planning to monitor)

1 x 60A workshop sub panel (not planning to monitor)

1 x 60A generator a.k.a. critical-load sub panel, which has 12 spaces, 8 normal and 4 tandems = 16 circuits (wish to monitor these circuits carefully to not overload generator)

      Individual Circuits on Main:

      2 x 40A/230V = HVAC unit #1 (all electric)

      2 x 30A/230V = HVAC #2 & #3 (electric+gas)

      1 x 30A/230V = dryer

      1 x 40A/230V = stove

      1 x 60A/230V = EV charge

      3 x 60A/230V = feeds aforementioned 3 sub panels (basement, workshop, generator)

5 x 20A/115V circuits –  various household loads but these are not in the generator panel

(It would be nice to monitor these circuits since some of them are the big users of power.)

      Circuits on Critical Load:

…fed by either main, or generator input, with transfer switch

16 x 20A/115V circuits feeding all the important household stuff such as lights, outlets, fridge, microwave, etc.

This is the critical panel to monitor with Vue.

      Basement & Workshop SubPanels

…not planning to install Vue to monitor these at this time

      Questions:

      1. How is it determined whether one needs the flexible or the standard probes for the main?
      2. Can the Vue handle the 16 circuits in the  critical load panel as well as the main, in the main panel, given that they are in separate panels?
      3. Can it also handle adding more sensors than the 16 in the generator panel?  For example, the HVAC units?  Stove?  Dryer?  EV charge?
      4. Does Vue work with any 3-party smart plugs such as Kasa or Wyze?  Or only with its own brand plugs?

I am planning to install the main Vue unit into its own separate little box, embedded flush in the wall (same as all the other panels) which will be connected to the main panel and the generator panel via conduit.

I’ve read all I can find but still have these questions.  I’d rather not figure all this out by trial & error and then have to return things back to Amazon or Emporia.

      Thanks!
