That’s what’s going on? Good Lord, I just installed mine today and after getting it all set up it suddenly stopped showing any live info after a couple hours, and none of my custom circuit names were there (but were still in my device settings). I was losing my mind trying to figure out what the hell was going on. Was about to open up my circuit breaker again and check that it didn’t get fried somehow or something.
But I was still able to interact with the device and change Wi-Fi settings and such, so I knew the device was okay…
By the title of this post in guessing this is something that happens often? Ridiculous that the info ten feet from me is getting lost in a server god knows where. I may go with a competitor product if this is a frequent issue.
Let me know how frequently this is a problem with Emporia, community.

Its really annoying when support team does not provide any status and every one is wondering if something is wrong with their device. Its been down since yesterday 9pm EST

Same here in NY, this is a first since installation in August, but this is the first time on this community forum, from the posts here, this seems to have happened before and of course they have no monitoring on the weekend…not a good look
Overall I like it, but glad I registered since I thought it was on my side

” they really need a status.emporiaenergy.com”
EXACTLY! I’ve spent an hour resetting my device only to finally figure out that there is no cloud connection. why does this keep going down?

Folks,
Thanks for reporting this. I had to restart my whole network thinking my WiFi was the problem.
I saw this and realized the problem was the cloud service. Never happened before, first time since bought.
I’m reporting from Panama city, Panama

Doesn’t look good, nobody here to fix things on a weekend. I wonder if their business model profitable or it all turns to bricks some day.

Same here – Maryland USA – it appears that their cloud services are down. Agree – a local cloudless solution is needed AND Emporia should post their server status on their web page.

Really not a good first weekend to have this product. Woof. First impressions and all that. But from the other comments in here it seems this isn’t a rare occurrence. Emporia really needs at least one person working weekends so it’s not just people in here wondering what’s wrong. A terrible look on the company.

Gah!! I wondered if this was why I’m seeing no data. This is the first time I have noticed. Just installed a third Vue in my system last night, worked for a short time, then all zeros on everything, and still that way for about 12 hours now. My Vue added around 10pm 11/18 was the one that put them over the limit!
I thought I screwed up something, but pretty sure I know how to set time up, being the third one now. Well, my plan with this third Vue was actually to put esphome on it at some point, so that I can get local data directly to calculate heatpump COP live. Local api or bust!

Weirdly it still shows some stats for a ‘day’. But I’m pretty sure it’s way below actual usage – at least for the current day. Though yesterday’s ‘day total’ is pretty close to what my provider reports (with 3 hours ‘down’ after 9PM EST).

Yep it’s up now, ok…

My kwh total for today, including the time the cloud was out, does match my utility meter data. That’s nice.

Looks like it filled the gap with whatever device showed when it went up

We apologize for the inconvenience this weekend. We can confirm that service has been restored. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Does the API go down a lot?
-
flyoffacliffMember
The API is a bit of a mystery it seems. Emporia posted on these forums even fairly recently saying that no API exists, but it definitely does and even one of their own help articles lists some things that use it, so idk.
No I can’t recall ever seeing it down until now, and I use it a couple times a week for the past 8 months.

I find the “minute” data extremally useful, but have to wonder how wasteful it is to have to be reported to server and then retrieved again. It seems many users are running local sites that could benefit from a direct API calls to hub from their local device.
Is there any chance that is possible to report locally or is code hardwired for cloud based delivery?

Has the service been unreliable the past couple of days? The past few days the second and/or minute data doesn’t load right away. Sometimes it takes a while and other times it doesn’t load at all.
Is there a some sort of a status page?
-
emporiacsEmporia Staff
Hi, there is currently no status page as we’ve we’ve been focused on developing and improving our products. We’ve noted this feedback to the team.
Seconds data is only available for 3 hours if you’re exporting the CSV files, and if the app is opened, you can see real-time data updated every second. If the app is not opened, data will be an average over the minute.
