As someone with a whole home standby generator, I’d like the ability to configure the emporia EVSE to not offer a charge after the EVSE has experienced a loss of power. The option to either require manual intervention to begin charging again or to set a configurable delay time before offering a charge would allow for a mechanism to avoid the EVSE charging from the generator source unless I chose to have it do so in that moment. Since the standby generator always has a brief delay (~20s) to turn on after a loss of utility power, there is always a lost power event for the EVSE whenever on generator power.

For those wondering, I do have load shedding for the EVSE on my generator to prevent an overload but that does not provide any options to always drop certain loads. I realize that most people would simply move the EVSE load to a non-standby panel. My entire home is on standby so that would be a costly change to make.

Thanks for the suggestion relating to outage situations; we’re going to make sure the developers take a look.  There is no logic to pause the charger after loss of power.

When the power comes back, the charger remains in the state it was when power was lost. Paused if in paused; ready if in ready. If in ready, will start to charge again as soon as there is any power available. Grid or generator. Whatever is available. The charger does not care about the source.

An option would be to power the EV Charger from a breaker that’s not connected to the generator. The charger cannot detect the difference from where power is coming from.
