      Team,

I dont see a search function so I guess ill ask 🙂

If I am trying to monitor my Charge and Discharge Backup Battery from my Solar Setup, Which ways do the clamps need to face?

      Thanks!

Well, depends.  Emporia does not currently support bi-directional power flow on the circuit ports – only the mains.  If you have a dedicated Vue 2 for this, use the mains clamps (A & B).  That will show you the power in and out.  If you are trying to do this on the circuit clamps (1-16) on an existing Vue 2 (already using the mains clamps to monitor the mains), you will only be able to see absolute power flow on the circuit ports.

      This is interesting.

So the battery setup option does not account for bi-directional reading.

      This sucks 🙁

Can the C port on the main clamp be used as stand-alone?

If not, this would be cool to be used on things such as batteries.

The C port is only used for a 3 phase setup.  If you want to measure bi-directional power, that only option is using a 2nd Vue – and the mains clamps.

Emporia has claimed this could be added at some point (also an issue for solar and night-time vampire inverter / microinverter draw), but this is going on 2 years now and they don’t seem to be addressing system shortcomings – let alone new features.
