Just installed 2 VUEs with extension boxes. The extension box installation is kind of a pain.

The instructions suggest that you install all 8 probes and then the app will notice them and let you enter the information.

      • The box is totally unlabeled. You need to look at the picture in the manual to know how the 8 ports are numbered and when things move around you need to recheck that picture. Putting 1-8 in the plastic on both sides of the ports shouldn’t cost anything if this is a custom part and would make this easier. Or use a sticker.
      • Since the app won’t let you start labeling the ports until they are all installed you have to take notes. For my second install, I plugged all 8 in first, and then when the app allowed it I attached them to circuits and entered them in the app as I went along. It worked better and I made fewer mistakes.  It would be better if the app could let you enter the port assignments as you are doing the install.

In the end you get a huge jumble of wires. I don’t care because it will all be covered, but does it matter? Will the system work better if I bunch these all up separately and neatly?

@wscott Hello Again!   We really appreciate the detailed feedback on your user experience while installing two Vue’s with a total of 16 expansion circuits.

      • We are adding numbers to our new hardware
      • The new install flow will reflect your recommendation; attach first, then label in the app while you connect to individual circuits.
      • As mentioned before, the length of the CT cables will be shorted to minimize exceeds

The system performance is not impacted if the Wires are bundled or left loose, it is up to the customer on how they deal with the wire management within their panel.

Again, we really appreciate the feedback and please let us know if you have any other questions or ideas.
