Hi,
I found the Emporia system after a shocking Time Of Use end of year summary from my utility company. I was paying MORE for TOU even after being very conscious of when I ran high energy systems (Air conditioning and clothes dryer)
During summer (July – September) my utility company charges 5.3x standard rate during peak hours vs 0.66x standard for off peak. That also means peak is 8x higher than off peak.
During “winter” which they define as October – June, our peak and off peak rate are both lower than standard rate.
I knew summer peak price is higher than standard, but was surprised at how much higher. I also figured with being smart about power usage, I would come out ahead, but it didn’t work out that way.
I’m curious if others on TOU find similar ratios.
