Hello Guys, my Emporia reading vs utility bill is not lining up at all. So I started digging and found the main ct A is seeing solar production in middle of the night (not true, no way). So I thought maybe I got the main ct’s direction wrong. I flip both main ct’s direction and now I see main ct B is getting solar production at night. I found this link explaining about night solar production but is there solution to this problem?
1-What can I do to ensure Emporia reading will be accurate enough that I can compare it to utility bill?
2-Is your Emporia reading almost the same as your utility bill?
3-My Enphase solar combinator box is “line tap” directly to utility main line, is that a problem? I can only relying on main ct to tracking bidirectional usage.
4-I have real time 15 min reading from utility company, emporia 15 min report, Enphase production report, is there any nerd out there can help me troubleshoot this? I can setup Zoom call and provide all the data for analysis. I am even willing to donate $100 to anyone who can get me get to bottom of all this.
5-I am willing to provide any picture of the electric panel and change any wiring to make this work.Thank you!

Hello I am having the same issue, at night I get a “ghost” generation from solar configuration.

Hi,
We have some more info for you!
Right now the 50A CT’s on the Gen 2 don’t have the capability to capture bi-directional current flow – so they can only capture all measured usage as either production or consumption. The “ghost” generation you’re seeing at night is actually the small consumption required by the inverter to keep operating (to match grid phase) and is usually only a few watts (depending on the size of the inverter itself) – but is displayed as generation since the circuit type is flagged as Solar. We’re going to be launching a firmware update for the Gen 2 in the future to provide this capability, so when that is available the 50A CT should track this usage correctly as consumption rather than “ghost” generation.
Let me know if you’d need any additional clarification!

I see about 50 watts solar generation at night on one of my two solar CTs.
I opened all the breakers for my solar array and it dropped to zero, so it was real power. The inverter consumption makes sense.
You would think solar systems would be smart enough to turn this off at night to avoid these “vampire” drains.
