the $40 Utility monitor is awesome and I could get it to work despite the lack of good instructions and the issue with the : printed on the box but have to be omitted when typing it it (I say that on an Amazon review).
Then I helped my neighbor to install a unit that I gifted to him since he asked me for help with reducing his power bill.
It took over an hour and he would have never been able to do it himself. Several issues with passcodes, the unit not receiving the smart meter signal or wifi signal, a delay in the PG&E activation, pretty messy …
There should either be a more simple install or a much improved instruction manual.
