Water damage in US homes far exceeds all other forms of damage and insurance claims. Most homes of working age people tend to be unoccupied a good portion of the day. There are inexpensive water detection units that set off an alarm when water is detected. This is of little value if the owners are not home (generally at work). A wifi smart plug device that will send a notification when water completes a circuit is not a big step from the smart plugs that already exist and not out of line with the main focus of Emporia to save energy and thus money.
