    Hi Bill,

Thanks for the feedback — we’ve noted it to the team.

Yes, Emporia App can now display voltage as a unit of measurement. Please note that for the Emporia Gen 2 Vue Energy Monitor the voltage displayed is an average.

We recently updated our Units of Measurement article to reflect this update: https://help.emporiaenergy.com/hc/en-us/articles/9336362559127-Units-of-Measurement

    Hi ArubaUser,

Thanks for this feedback. We know for certain that many customers in Europe and Caribbean in 3 phase have the product working as expected. Based on your descriptions, our inkling is to ensure there isn’t something incorrect installation. Please contact customer support again directly and we’ll be happy to continue diagnosing this with you. Thanks for your patience.

The Gen 2 Vue is capable of net metering solar generation. The 200A sensors that are included with the device are directional and can measure any energy that is generated in excess of your consumption – as long as the sensors are installed between your utility meter and the solar input to your system. You can check out our Solar Supplemental Guide for more details on how the device needs to be installed to monitor a solar system.
You can also use the 50A sensors that come with the Gen 2 bundle to measure the amount of energy generated by your solar system (this is not required for net metering, though). Once setup, your Gen 2 Vue will show excess net generation as green numbers and green bars on the graphs. Net consumption will display asblue numbers and bars.

Hi, here are some insights that should help!

Total usage: is the total energy consumption of the home, and it includes also utility-sourced and solar production. It’s the combined total of all of the 200A CT’s connected to the device.  This may change to a Net Usage/Net Production value if you have solar or generation happening in the system. The total from the meter, when you’re set to Watts is the Total Usage.

Net Production: Total Solar + Total Usage. The Net metering indicates that you are currently producing more solar power than your home is consuming.

Net usage: the difference between total production and total consumption. When consumption is higher than production, you’ll have Net Usage. If your production is higher than consumption, then you’ll have Net Production.

Balance: is the energy reported by the Mains (200A sensors) that is not being monitored by the 50A sensors. Balance is calculated by taking the sum of all the usage reported by the 50A sensors and subtracting that value from the total reported by the Mains during the same period.
    Balance = Mains − Circuits (1~16)

Unfortunately, right now, the Emporia app does not offer a way of adding circuits together. It’s a very common feature requested by our customers, and we’re working on that to be launched in a future firmware update, but we still don’t have an ETA for that functionality.

Hi, here’s some context that should help:

200A CTs are bi-directional and should be installed in the same orientation.
50A CTs are not bi-directional, so the orientation does not matter.

We don’t officially support any HA integrations at the moment, so we can’t comment as to why the HA integration for your specific use case isn’t working at the moment. If your Emporia device is offline (after the outage) or not sending measurements, we can certainly work one-on-one for your situation since we’re not noticing any platform wide issues at the moment. Please contact us using the options at the bottom of the page.

Hi, while we don’t generate reports, you can quickly export CSV files with raw data in kW and kWh and use the data to create your own reports.

1.) Yes – most “normal configurations” for audio splitters are in parallel (to provide equal signals to both headsets), so important to find a pair that are different. Also possible to splice sensors directly (in a series configuration) to achieve the same result (w/o any extra adapters).

2.) Is important to have the solar flag set specifically on the device w/ the 200A CT’s monitoring the mains since that is how the device understands the requirement to track bi-directional power flow through those sensors. Doesn’t matter (or hurt) if the second device is flagged or not for that setup part since its 200A CT’s are not used. Is still important to also make sure any solar-specific 50A CT’s on either device to have their circuit type saved as solar/generation however.

    Hi.

    Here’s some additional insight:

1.) Either way should work, but mostly depends on the measurements you’d like to see in the app. Using the Y-cable will combine all sensors (connected together) measurements into a single value for the specified port. Using the available C port should work great, but in this situation one of your “combined” sensors will always read higher than the other two. If you used both services with Y-cables, then you’d get the two values displayed within the app which should be similar to each other. So if you’d like to see your two out of the four service mains separated, with two combined – then one sensor in the C port, and the two service mains on a shared phase w/ the Y-cable would be the way to go. Important pointers for this to work:
    – Your Y-cable must connect the sensors in series (not parallel)
    – Any sensors spliced/connected together must be monitoring circuit lines (or mains) on the same phase of power

2.) For this particular situation, it won’t matter which Gen 2 is considered the “primary” Gen 2 or not – you’ll just want to make sure that your primary Gen 2 is the one flagged for solar (by selecting the “I have Solar/Generation” during the setup or reset process). The second Gen 2 isn’t required to have that flag set since it’s not tracking any net usage w/ its own 200A CT’s.
