Perhaps your balance is coming from the unmonitored second leg of a 240V circuit? If a 240V circuit has a neutral I believe it can be unbalanced. When I was setting up my system I found that my Dryer was unbalanced, the heating element came off one leg and the drum motor off the other (mostly) — had to play around with which leg to put the CT and the correct multiplier to get the best result.
