It’s interesting I’ve been looking at that other product for months and when the new HA update came out I decided it was time to get one. Then I saw the vue2 on Amazon and was like wow that’s great price point and the fact that I can wire it directly to a breaker and have everything be self contained with that number of inputs it was a no brainer. Just like you I had the same thought about being sold at a loss and also about re-flashing. When I got my unit and discovered it uses MQTT I thought it would just be great if I could use my own MQTT server to ingest everything and not have to reinvent the wheel. Some hours later I’m seeing that I should’ve just went with my initial order and saved myself some hours of “discovery” and disappointment. It’s funny because a friend of mine sent me an amazon link to the vue 2 this morning saying he was thinking of getting one to use with Homeassistant and I had to redirect him elsewhere.
