App notification not triggering Android notification

I just set my first notificaton for when my kids leave an electric heater on too long.

It happened today, but I didn’t see any Android notification pop up on my phone. But when I looked into the Emporia App notification area, I saw the notification there just fine.

Shouldn’t an Emporia App notification trigger an Android notification (like I get when I have new email or a new Facebook post)? I checked, and I have app notification and icon turned on in the Emporia App settings in Android.

This is happening to me too.  I assume it’s a problem on my phone (ie: the phone is shutting down the app in the background to conserve battery).  I only get about half the notifications as actual interruptions with the little leaf icon.  If I’ve had the app open recently, I get the notifications; if I’ve closed it and haven’t re-opened for a day or two, then there no notifications appear.

Just wanted to say mine was not notifying me with app off and even when it was on not all the time. Sometimes I would get a bunch of alerts hours maybe days later. But in past few weeks they are working great for me with app off, maybe 5-15 min delays but I think that might be how they work. I have one watching feed auger motor in my chicken house and it has kept me from letting it run empty longer then needed twice now. I have it set to alert me when it runs for more then 20 minutes.
