There is very little room in UK consumer Units to install the CTs which are provided with the Emporia monitor.

Firstly, for individual circuits is it possible to use non-Emporia CTs as there are some very small CTs available such as the following:

50A Current Transformer with flying leads

If I soldered a 2.5mm jack plug onto those leads, would this work with the Emporia monitor? As you can see it is vastly more compact than the supplied ones at only 21.5mm x 19mm (11.5mm thick). For end-use circuits it is no problem at all to disconnect the positive wire from the breaker to feed it through the CT, but it is literally impossible to fit the supplied 50A CTs into the consumer unit.

Secondly, for the incoming supply cables the 200A CTs are even MORE impossible to fit into the electrical installation anywhere. I could possibly fit the flexible sensors but these do not seem to be available from Amazon UK although the main unit is. Buying them direct from Emporia is enormously expensive – over twice their list price when you add shipping and taxes at $133.21 compared to the list price of $60. Is there any way of purchasing them within the UK at a more reaonsable price?

NOTE: Spec for the CT is as follows:

      Primary Current Range: 50A Max
      Turns Ratio: 1000:1 nominal
      Burden Resistance: 33 Ω
      Winding Resistance: 72Ω Nominal
      Operating Frequency: 50/60Hz
      Dielectric Withstanding Voltage (Hi-pot): 4KVrms

Without the detailed specifications of the Emporia sensor, it is impossible to tell.

Have you asked them to provide the detailed specs of their sensor?
