I just finished installing my new Vue2 and so far it has been working great but I have a question about getting some of the monitoring plugs.

At the moment with my current setup my balance is about 10-30% depending on whats going on.  If I buy a plug, can a nest it under the balance section and will it then account for that when viewing the results?

For example if I have a balance of .5kW and I plug into something with 0.1kW of usage will it actually report my balance as 0.4kW and separate out the usage then under the plug?

I have been trying to understand this from looking on YouTube and the site but haven’t been able to get clarity on this.

Anytime you nest a smart plug under a circuit, the usage reported by the appliance on the plug will be discounted from the circuit’s usage, to avoid double counting.

I probably have the same question.  My situation is that I have a 20-amp breaker that powers a gas furnace and outlets for a freezer and wine cooler.  I would like to see their loads differentiated in the app.  Can I accomplish this by using the Emporia plug monitors on the freezer and wine cooler?

Yes, you can! If your circuit has only two appliances, you can use the Smart Plug for say the freezer and it will discount the freezer usage from the circuit, and the rest of the usage for that circuit is coming from the wine cooler.

      Hello DEggers,

You might not end up purchasing anything through me, which is fine, but you might learn something which is even more important! See my information at

https://personalpowerproject.com/  – get back to me with any questions.  Thanks, and yes using the plugs appliances is very easy and can be moved to other devices if needed.  I have my breakers and house full of Emporia modules.
