Excess Solar Algorithm Short Cycles HVAC

I have a gen2 vue and have been experimenting with the “Excess Solar Management” feature to use excess solar to pre-cool my home before the sun goes down.

 

I have noticed that the algorithm will short cycle the HVAC units by moving the temperature up and down too frequently. The time out on the compressor restarts is the only saving grace but there needs to be a minimum setpoint time (15 minutes) regardless of what the solar production changes to once an excess has been determined.

 

Does anyone else notice this anomoly?

Sorry that you’re having this issue. We’re looking at more customization options for Excess Solar Management in the future, so feel free to send any requests you may have our way. If your HVAC system is cycling too often given this functionality, would be better to disable it temporarily until we have more control of that
