I have had a Vue 2 installed for almost a year, and it was working well… until we switched our ISP from a WISP which gave us a public IP with StarLink, which uses CGNAT to routinely switch our external IP address as the satellites change… ever since then, we get a few minutes of connection, then the Vue 2 disconnects… will there ever be any way \around this, or will we have to wait until both Starlink and Emporia update to IPV6?  Or has the Vue2  WiFi gone bonkers?

@john polasek thanks for reaching out to us regarding this issue you are having with your new satellite provider and the Gen 2 maintaining an internet connection.   The outside IP address changing shouldn’t matter.   How routinely do they switch your external IP? Our device should reconnect automatically.

The switching is supposedly not that often, but can be as often as 2 or 3 times per minute, and given that each satellite is only reachable for 3 to 5 minutes, before they HAVE to switch… And I am not sure that that is the problem;  only that (spot checking the history)  it seemed to appear shortly after we discontinued our prior WISP connection.  I am intending to set up a ping logger deamon to see if the device is dropping it’s WIFI connection but only realized that it has been offline more than on recently when we began having issues with our AC unit and pulled the historical data to try and isolate when the problem began occurring.

CGNAT is different than what you’re describing.

It’s multiple ISP customers sharing a single external IP at the same time. Cell service does this and starlink likely does too.

CGNAT is a bigger issue than simply a changing IP address.
