I have both the Vue2 and the Utility connect,

The utility connect shows consistently 4% higher reading.

Could it a problem with my installation?

I noticed there’s a multiplier for the mains.  I would think all of this assumes you’re getting exactly 120V coming in.

Do we need to measure voltage and calculate that multiplier to be more accurate?

The Vue2 is supposed to mesure voltage, I believe. I talked to support and they feel that may be OK since I have it installed at a sub-panel.

But 4 % losses from panel to subpanel is a lot.

I would play with the multiplier and see if you can get them closer.

I’d assume your bill reflects what the utility connect shows?

If I use 1.03 multiplier they get fairly close. The bill reflects the meter. 3% loss in the wire to the subpanel is not possible.

      So either:

The smart meter is over charging.

      Or

      Vue2 underestimates by 3%.

I will try to test that by shutting down all devices and only use a device with known consumption, perhaps also metered with a plug meter.

You might want to take a look at this thread regarding the inaccuracy of the Utility Connect.
