I have solar panels. Right now, my house is using little power so the panels are generating more than I am using. My power company buys back the power I generate but right now all of the extra power is showing up in the Balance line rather than as a negative number in the Main line. Is this correct behaviour or is there something configured incorrectly?

Vue 2 UI of my home.

Solar CTs are supposed to be installed in the reverse direction from load CTs, did you do that?

Also did you make sure the Solar breaker(s) where switched off during the initial powering of the Vue?

I originally installed them correctly, then tried reversing them, then I put them back to the correct direction (K to panels, L to breaker). I did have the panel breaker switched off when I installed. I also tried to “fix” it by turning the breaker off and then reinstalling the panel in the app via Menu -> Device Management -> Main Panel -> Reset WiFi / Solar Setup.

You are at least confirming that what I am seeing is not normal? There doesn’t seem to be a document that describes what things should look like when everything is working properly.

Thanks for your help on this.

I am having the exact same issues.  The app can not track above 199%.  What is unfortunate is at the end of the day I cant see the correct totals of how much energy consumed Vs. Generated through the solar.  Hopefully, there should be an easy fix to this calculation error.

I you initialized the system originally with the solar CTs installed in the same direction as the other one, then this is likely your issue.

      My advice would be to:

      • Power off the Vue.
      • Delete the device from the app
      • Switch off solar
      • Reverse the solar CTs (opposite direction as the load CTs)
      • Leave solar off, then add the Vue again in the app, and power it up (solar off).
      • Let it redo the whole initialization.
      • Then when instructed switch on the solar breakers.

I tried that but it remembered all of my data and filled it in automatically. I’ve asked EE how to do a factory reset.

Hello @HenryH can please reach out to our support team?  We can check the install of your Vue remotely and confirm if the installation is correct and if it isn’t how to correct.  I see you mentioned you already reached out for help on ‘resetting the device’   below you will see how to remove the historical data.

The Main Usage is your net usage, total usage is what the home is consuming from both solar and utility.   I think based on your balance there is an issue with the installation and/or the configuration of the device.

Again, please reach out to us to correct.

When doing the install make sure you’re consuming a decent (1kw) of power also – turn on an aircon unit etc.
That helps increase the signal-noise ratio on the sensors & fixed a few setup issues around here.
