I am aware that when a smart plug is installed as a child/sub to the main monitored circuit that the smart plug usage is to be deducted from the usage recorded on the main circuit.  It appears to me, however, that this calculation is not occurring properly.  I have been closely monitoring the per second usage of the appliance plugged into the smart plug, and when it comes on… say a stand alone ice maker or wine cooler, the usage measurements for both the smart plug AND the main circuit monitored by the 50A CT will spike, and remain elevated.  Has anyone seen similar or have thoughts?  I have replaced the smart plugs to insure it wasn’t just a bad plug, but with no change in behavior.

4 days later and no feedback………hummm

I have 3 of the “smart plugs” but I have not spent the time digging into the details.  Maybe I should put on a pot of coffee and start looking.

      Hi @rjjones4314,

Sorry for the delay in response. The primary way for this functionality to work is to “nest” the Smart Plug device under the monitored circuit within the application. This way, the application will understand the relationship between the CT and the Smart Plug (whereas currently there is no determined relationship and the app will treat both as independent energy monitors instead of being related on the same circuit).

To nest the Smart Plug under a circuit within the app:

      • Select the Settings Menu icon (three horizontal bars/”hamburger”) located on the upper left corner of the app.
      • Go to “Manage Devices”
      • Select the Smart Plug device you’d like to “nest”
      • Tap “Smart Plug info”
      • This view will provide the opportunity to change details about the Smart Plug (“name” etc…) as well as an option called “Nest Under”
      • Choose the appropriate circuit and “Save”

Hopefully this can help manage your data interaction better between the devices. Let us know if you have any other questions!

      Thanks,
