      Hello,

I love my Emporia system and am considering getting the Emporia EVSE to do “solar excess” charging for my EV.

It would be great if additional conditional statements could be added to the solar excess feature. For example, I only want to do solar excess charging during my “off peak” time. During “peak” time, my reimbursement is much higher and it’s worth it for me to sell back to the grid.

It seems fairly straight forward for a time based conditional statement to do this. Let us set a schedule!

To be clear, this is different than ToU scheduling on the EVSE.

I want a schedule for the solar excess feature alone. So that there are times that even though solar excess is being generated, it does NOT charge.

Most EV’s have ToU scheduling built into the car.  I would think you could do this by scheduling your car to charge via the car’s infotainment during the off-peak hours that you want.  No reason you can’t use the car’s features, as well as the capabilities of the Emporia charger.

      Yes, that would mostly work.

But unfortunately my EV depends on now defunct 3G modem for the in car ToU scheduling.

And even if it did work it would also mean navigating multiple apps to “charge now” and over ride.

Functionality should be built into Emporia

Really, you can’t schedule on the car’s screen – without cellular or an app?  What vehicle do you have?

Correct. That feature requires 4G upgrade. Which I could get, but don’t really want to pay for. Focus EV.
