Utility Connect Refresh Rate when in Seconds

I just connected up our Utility Connect and it works great–even in a test location that I thought would be too far away from everything.  It is accurate too, displaying exactly what the meter displays, even when sending energy to the utility. 🙂

But I do have a question.  When researching the purchase, many people said that meter reading was nearly real-time–but from what I can tell, it is only incrementing every 10 seconds and seems to be programmatically set this way.  I couldn’t find a way in the app to adjust the interval because I want mine to also be near real-time.  I only purchased this so I can look at the total load in real-time without having to go down to the meter every time.  Any assistance appreciated.

Hi Samir,

Following the specifications of the Zigbee Smart Energy protocol, our request frequency is once every 30 seconds.  The frequency at which the app updates also depends on the frequency at which the smart meter sends out usage updates so in some cases, the app may update less frequently then once every 30 seconds.

This is not the correct answer.

It cannot be right if others have had real-time/near real-time updates in seconds mode and my unit is currently updating every 10 seconds.
