Putting my +1 in here – just found out about Emporia today, and will not be purchasing. Would have bought three, but I have a closet full of gear from companies that folded or no longer support their API, and I also object to that data leaving my property at all. So no cloud for me on IoT, thanks. Wake me when a local query/collect method is available. What mystifies me is that by opening up a local collection method they would sell a lot more units, since third party integrations would spring up without needing to be hand-held by their development team.
