On the main menu, at the bottom is a selection for Household Info then Set Utility rate. You can set different rates for Household and Devices Rates are available by some utilities based on your location.

November 16, 2022 at 10:51 pm in reply to: Peak Shaving EV charging doesn’t work reliably #9101 Report AbuseAmpsterMemberI got my situation resolved with the help of support. It turns out, to use the solar charging feature the EV Charger needs to be PAUSED which I did not understand. All is good now.
November 16, 2022 at 10:48 pm in reply to: EV Charger not adjusting to Solar output #9100 Report AbuseAmpsterMember- An update on my adventure with the EV Charger. It turns out it was not a bug afterall, it was simply a case of user error. I did not understand correctly that I needed to put the EV Charger in PAUSED mode to get it to use available solar. Thanks to the support staff for their patience.
When I think about it, that makes sense since that would be how to override the scheduled mode. I could not change the title but it was not a bug.
November 15, 2022 at 8:42 pm in reply to: Measuring a 3rd leg, plus US 240v split-phase #9089 Report AbuseAmpsterMemberI had a similar situation with a different device than an Emporia. I never did find a solution except to have them all synced to the same 60 HZ signal. You could give it a try. I think the third port is for three phase but with three phase the assumption is they are all in sync but just 120 degrees out of phase, not a totally different frequency. The differences you are seeing may be only 0.1 of a Hz but enough to give you that cycled output.

November 13, 2022 at 8:03 pm in reply to: Not sure to go about putting clamps on mains #9082 Report AbuseAmpsterMemberI tried to add to my post but could not do it in time so posting here. I have seen some people opening up the utility side of the panel and attaching those clamps to the sincle 0000 cables before the meter. There are risks doing that so your mileage may vary and i am not sure this is recommended by Emporia. In my case my main panel bus bars worked because all my loads are on two sub panels and there was plenty of room since there were only the two breakers feeding the sub panels.

November 12, 2022 at 9:20 pm in reply to: EV Charger not adjusting to Solar output #9079 Report AbuseAmpsterMemberYes I have tried to eliminate other variables. Thanks for the input.
November 12, 2022 at 7:37 pm in reply to: Peak Shaving EV charging doesn’t work reliably #9076 Report AbuseAmpsterMemberI have a similar situation where I cannot get the EV Charger to modulate with solar. I am grid tied. I do not know how this situation was resolved.
I will start a new thread.
AmpsterMemberI will start a new thread with the correct issue in the title.
AmpsterMemberWith the help of the support person I resolved why my EV Charger was not showing up on the Web interface. It was my fault because I had used two different email accounts for logins. It it now resolved.
The only thing remaining is why my solar output cannot control my EV Charger. I have a rate situation that I want to use the available solar in the morning and early afternoon to charge my EVs. I specifically purchased the EV Charger for that capability. I already have a Tesla Wall Connector and can manually adjust the charging rate on my phone if I wanted to monitor solar production every fifteen minutes.
AmpsterMemberI have a dialogue with a support person who is going to research why my EV Charger is not showing up on the Web version or on their database. Once we get that solved maybe we can figure out why the EV Charger is drawing more than my solar is producing. I have set it to use available solar.
AmpsterMemberAdditionally the EVSE (Emporia Charger shows up on the We version as disabled but enabled on my phone app. I can’t change it on the Web app. It still does not follow solar production. I just sett the charging current below what my solar produces.
AmpsterMemberI should add that the correct numbers show up for Net Usage, Solar Generation and Total Usage.
November 3, 2022 at 7:23 pm in reply to: Using Emporia Vue Gen2 With Starlink (UK) #9044 Report AbuseAmpsterMemberIt took me a while to get the internet connection when I was doing a WIFI reset to get my Emporia EV Charging station set up. I reset my cable modem and my Google WIFI. Don’t know exactly what did it. I should also mention that I stayed near the Vue and the Charging station while waiting for the WIFI connection in order to keep the Bluetooth connection strong.
AmpsterMemberMy name is Rick and I have had an Emporia Vue for almost a year. I just bought the EV charger and my goal is to charge my EVs from available solar. It took a while for my WIFI reset to work and more time for my charging rate to follow the available solar. It seems to be working and I am curious how it handles it as the solar production decreases during the day.
I am in Northern California and even with an EV Time of Use rate is is more cost effective for me to charge our EVs from excess solar during the day My rates are $0.55 per kWh during Peak and $0.25 during Off Peak.
