My kwh total for today, including the time the cloud was out, does match my utility meter data. That’s nice.
dakleinMemberYep it’s up now, ok…
dakleinMemberGah!! I wondered if this was why I’m seeing no data. This is the first time I have noticed. Just installed a third Vue in my system last night, worked for a short time, then all zeros on everything, and still that way for about 12 hours now. My Vue added around 10pm 11/18 was the one that put them over the limit!
I thought I screwed up something, but pretty sure I know how to set time up, being the third one now. Well, my plan with this third Vue was actually to put esphome on it at some point, so that I can get local data directly to calculate heatpump COP live. Local api or bust!

July 26, 2023 at 3:24 am in reply to: How to categorize a bi-directional PV circuit? #9718 Report AbusedakleinMemberEmporiacs, I would be interested to test this update to measure bi-directionally. (I’m not sure I see neg power on my main 200A CTs either, when I think I should be seeing due to solar backfeeding the panel through a 50A CT circuit and there should be power also going out the 200A CTs on the panel main). Thanks!
dakleinMemberI have found that the EVSE does work with google home as a smart switch device. It can turn on and off, starting & stopping charging if the car is plugged in. I named the EVSE ‘charger’ in google home app, and say google ‘turn the charger on’ or ‘off’.
I don’t know if the charging speed can be changed. Is there any info about what commands can be used with google & the Emporia EVSE? Thanks!
July 19, 2023 at 3:37 pm in reply to: Can the Gen2 Vue be installed on a breaker larger than 15A? #9705 Report AbusedakleinMemberIf there are really no 15 breakers available, the monitor could be wired with an inline AC fuse from a larger breaker. For example, Bussmann Fuse Holder BP/HMK-RP. With an AC rated fuse of 2 to 5 amps is more than needed to power the monitor and shouldn’t affect the voltage measurement. But certainly, the easiest is to 15a existing breakers.
November 15, 2022 at 9:33 pm in reply to: Measuring a 3rd leg, plus US 240v split-phase #9091 Report AbusedakleinMemberYes, the difference in frequency is pretty small, but it would be moving in and out of phase. This plot is from the inverters, which also see the grid.
The Emporia plot looks like the current is measured not as just an average over cycles, but fast enough that it has phase information in it. When it’s multiplied by (which one of?) the line voltage signals, they go out of sync and give the beating watts signal. If each CT input could have a selectable line voltage with which to use, then maybe it would work.
September 22, 2022 at 2:15 am in reply to: Start charge with Excess Solar Management #8884 Report AbusedakleinMemberI expect the excess solar feature would start charging at the minimum power level, once the excess solar power is near or above that power level (about 1500w). If the excess solar power drops below (about 1000w), then it should pause charging. If the excess solar power continues to go up, then increase the EVSE charging power.
Is there a description of how the feature works? Thanks
September 22, 2022 at 2:10 am in reply to: EV charger synced with solar production #8883 Report AbusedakleinMemberThe integration with the Vue monitor and the excess solar EVSE control is why I purchased the EVSE & Vue bundle. (plus a rebate from my utility) Does the excess solar feature start & stop the EVSE as well as vary the charging current?
