Hi, I just installed my VU2. UK single phase. 1 x 200A CT on the consumer unit live inlet. 1 x 50A CT on the solar inverter outlet. 14 x 50A CT on individual breaker circuits.

I bought this to understand exactly how much Solar energy I was producing. How much was getting consumed by the consumer unit and the balance to be shown as exported to the grid. When the sun was low or night I then wanted to see how much energy I was importing from the grid. Having all of these figures available would definitely change my household consumption behaviour. If there is excess solar exporting then we can put a wash/dry on or cook a meal. The App is very confusing in that it shows Total usage which is the addition of solar generation and the consumer unit consumption. This is a pointless figure since “Total usage” in this case does not represent usage ( or consumption ).  Then we have “balance” which appears to be the difference between all of the 50A CT circuits added up then subtracted from the main 200A CT figure. For diagnostics of setup this is useful because it should read zero if the system is setup correctly ( multipliers, all currents accounted  e.t.c. ). However in the case of a solar feed in the circuits this figure just mirrors the solar energy output and therefore masks the differences between 200A CT and the sum of the 50A CT. In addition when looking at the main view ( all circuits ) I can only see “import/export to grid” when selecting “day” resolution.  Additionally in this setting I have 0.00 export !! even though i’m generating over 1800W ( and consuming much less ). So in conclusion this system is useless for Solar installs and the advertised use. I’m pretty annoyed by this so I’m expecting someone to tell me either I’m doing something wrong or correct it so it’s as advertised ( solar NET metering ). The measures and the math are all there just the interface/app needs to arrange the data/dashboard so it’s useful for solar installations. Disappointing.
