Hello,
yeah the balance does not seem right, my balance is not green but the same colour as the loads. When I set mine up and did not have a high enough load goofy things happened. Did you have >3kw of load when it was set up? If not you may want to try resetting the unit and try again; a pain I know well.
Mooreinc07MemberGoogle the specs for the EVSE, 802.11 B G N.

Unfortunately this does mean resetting back to factory. Aside from this, you could move CTs around or turn breakers off and try to isolate the balance. When I set mine up I didn’t have enough load and had screwy readings and the config with sufficient load is what fixed it. This wasn’t apparent to me in the setup by saying 3kW but the technician I dealt with told me that the load is needed for calibration.
good luck
February 13, 2023 at 10:46 pm in reply to: App showing a positive balance—no solar #9367 Report AbuseMooreinc07MemberWhen doing the initial setup of the unit it asked for “significant” load to be on. Through talking with support they mentioned it should be >3 kW so I would recommend doing a reset and ensure that enough load is on to correctly calibrate the unit. I find my monthly to be within a few kWh of the utility bill monthly and this could just be the difference in time that they read the meter and I run the calculation; which is to say I find the meter accurate when it’s set up with sufficient load. Good luck 👍
Mooreinc07MemberMe: Is someone monitoring the forum? People are asking again for IFTTT integration but no replies from Emporia!
Kevin: We do monitor the forums, but we try to allow customers to discuss amongst themselves there as needed w/o too much intervention from our side. IFTTT is certainly one of the things we’d like to add at some point, main issue so far has been a small team (< 12 employees for most of our history). We’ve ramped up over the end of this summer into fall/winter, so teams growing a bunch right now. Hoping that’ll allow us to add more of these features going forward, especially the third party app integrations like IFTTT, Home Assistant and more. This upcoming year will see a bunch of cool updates to the app and cloud/software side of things, so I’d keep an eye out for some of those announcements coming soon.
Mooreinc07MemberI just compared my summer readings on a three wire home service and the net readings from the Emporia/Utility are: 412/387, 187/187, 22/27. One reason is that the revenue meter is a precision instrument that is regularly tested and used for billing whereas the Emporia is not. Perhaps you can try re-initializing the meter and make sure you have a load on of at least 3kW.
Mooreinc07MemberI had this issue when I initialized the hardware but did not have >3kW load. Reset your app then make sure the oven is on and lots of load or funky things happen.
Mooreinc07MemberHello Emporia support, I had a text chat with someone saying the Nest required a lot more work to integrate. Just wondering if this idea had been dropped, or if there is an update on the integration. I’m sure there are others that would prefer not to spend more money. Thanks
