We are very aware of the improvement needed in our UI, among other things, the graphing page. I will definitely pass your specific feedback on to the team. Thanks for noticing the time tags on the CSV!
September 5, 2023 at 2:45 pm in reply to: Allow graphing of Total Usage and Balance #9843 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffWe can measure total usage as long as you have are monitoring solar with our sensors(see below). We definitely agree our app needs improvement and have that on our radar. Thanks for your suggestion to look at Mvenerai’s!
September 5, 2023 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Big gains possible on notification system #9842 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffThis is great feedback and certainly can see the value in adding notifications more obvious through other channels as well as visual and audio clues.
emporiacsEmporia StaffThanks, will share with request with our development team.
August 25, 2023 at 12:40 am in reply to: Excess Solar Algorithm Short Cycles HVAC #9807 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffSorry that you’re having this issue. We’re looking at more customization options for Excess Solar Management in the future, so feel free to send any requests you may have our way. If your HVAC system is cycling too often given this functionality, would be better to disable it temporarily until we have more control of that
August 25, 2023 at 12:39 am in reply to: Current or No Current Clamp on Emporia EVSE Circuit? #9806 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffYou cannot use one sensor for multiple circuits, Emporia recommends one 50A CT per line of a circuit.
Each Gen 2 device is hard-capped to support monitoring for up to 16 individual circuits, but you can install as many devices as you need and manage them all with one account in the App. Currently, you can “nest” multiple devices to show the parent/child relationship and aggregate the usage in the App.

emporiacsEmporia StaffThis is happening because of your billing cycle that is probably set to end in September.
emporiacsEmporia StaffAt the moment, Emporia does not offer local device access or an API at the moment. The Vue 2 Energy Monitor needs a constant 2.4 GHz WiFi connection to be able to capture and transfer real-time data to our cloud and the Emporia app.
emporiacsEmporia StaffShouldn’t be too involved to monitor this system. Main thing to be aware of is that the Gen 2 can only monitor AC lines (no direct current), so will need to be on the AC side of your solar inverter. The other important part is that you’ll want to make sure your 200A CT’s are installed above the line-tapped solar into your mains in the main panel. One other thing to note, is that if you’re trying to monitor any circuits physically distant from the Gen 2 device (more than 20 feet), then you’d probably need another Gen 2 in that location since extending sensors has that 20′ limitation.
Once you’re setup and running, feel free to reach out to Customer Support to double check that things are setup correctly and monitoring your usage accurately.
emporiacsEmporia Staff1.) Circuit merging (feature request mentioned here) is our #1 requested feature, hoping to get that added in the future (no timeline though, and certainly discussions about that available on the forum).
2/3.) Looking to update graphs in the future, however a pretty big app overhaul. Once we have the app in a good place to approach graphing updates we’ll certainly be adding some of these features as well.
August 15, 2023 at 11:17 pm in reply to: 3 phase/3 wire installation in Australia #9770 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffFor a 3 phase system, you need 3 x 200A CTs on the 3 mains (3 live phases of power you have coming from the grid). We sell the 3 phase monitor here, and they already come with 3 clamps for the mains: https://shop.emporiaenergy.com/collections/commercial-energy-devices
And single/split phase monitors here and they come with 2 x 200A CTs for the mains: https://shop.emporiaenergy.com/collections/emporia-products

August 14, 2023 at 12:36 pm in reply to: Install Vue 2 into “Do not break seal no fuses inside” compartment #9768 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffHello, the seal is to prevent customers from tampering with the electricity prior to the utility meter. We don’t have any further comments on this.
emporiacsEmporia StaffThe utilities and plans listed in our App are from the NREL database (National Renewable Energy Laboratory in the USA) and they are available only for U.S. based customers that have their plans listed right now. We do not currently have a way to enter a custom rate plan in the App.
We appreciate your support and understanding.
emporiacsEmporia StaffWe haven’t given up on this feature, and it is still planned to be released just as soon as possible.
We are doing our best to build the many feature enhancements on our roadmap – both those requested by our customers and those that will make Emporia the best Smart Home Energy Management service available. We maintain a very small development team in order to ensure this service remains free to you. Their priorities are often adjusted to fix critical customer facing issues or to build features that will have the broadest impact to our customer base. I will definitely pass your feedback on to the team. Rest assured, we have not lost track of this enhancement. To make sure you get emails when new features are announced, please make sure you are subscribed to our mailing list at http://eepurl.com/gxAMZv
We appreciated your support and understanding.
emporiacsEmporia StaffAt this time we do not have an open API. We understand that some people may want to log and analyze their data locally; however, our software, hardware, and business are developed around the collection and analytics of energy data in the cloud. You can try searching for “API” in our forums here to see what others have done.
