Hi, here’s some insight to help:
If the two mains panels are two independent service panels, you can have two Emporia Gen 2 Vue Energy Monitors monitors in each, but they will be separated in the Emporia App. You can nest the second one into each panel used to cover more circuits.
- Monitor in the Panel 1 and monitor in the subpanel 1 = can nest
- Monitor in the Panel 2 and monitor in the subpanel 2 = can nest
- Monitors in Panel 1 and Panel 2 – if they are independent services, not sharing the same mains, they cannot be nested.

January 3, 2024 at 2:12 pm in reply to: Monitoring a 100 Amp Circuit (Electric Boiler) #10217 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffHi all, here’s some extra insight that should help:
The Gen 2’s side ports are limited to measuring up to 75 amps regardless of the CT sensor used. The 50A sensor in a side port will read up to 75 amps but the ±2% accuracy rating only applies on circuits at or under 50 amps. If you chooses to use a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter to plug a 200A sensor into a side port, you must set the multiplier to 4.0 to get an accurate reading.

emporiacsEmporia StaffHi Jorge!
Here’s some info that should help make sense of it all:
Seconds and minutes are kW = power, hour and higher resolutions are kWh = energy.
CSV files bring only raw data, not calculations.
The data retention policy is as follows:
1 second data is available for 3 hours
1 minute data is available for 7 days
15 minute data is available for one year
1 hour / 1 day / 1 week / 1 month / 1 year data is available for the lifetime of the deviceThe device data is stored in our cloud and you can request an export of the second, minute, hour, and daily data (in kW & kWh) directly from the App. You will receive a link via email to download the CSV file.
At this time there is no cloud access or local storage available for our devices.
More information: https://help.emporiaenergy.com/hc/en-us/articles/9336309384983-How-long-is-measurement-data-stored-
Additionally, seconds data is only available for 3 hours if you’re exporting the CSV files, and if the app is opened, you can see real-time data updated every second in the seconds resolution. If the app is not open, data will be an average over the minute.
January 3, 2024 at 2:08 pm in reply to: Utility Connect Refresh Rate when in Seconds #10215 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffHi Samir,
Following the specifications of the Zigbee Smart Energy protocol, our request frequency is once every 30 seconds. The frequency at which the app updates also depends on the frequency at which the smart meter sends out usage updates so in some cases, the app may update less frequently then once every 30 seconds.
emporiacsEmporia StaffHi,
When you update the rate for the $ of energy, it should update old data as well.
You can also try: refreshing the app, power cycling the phone, uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
Please let us know and we’ll be happy to assist further. If you’d like get in contact with us more quickly, please use the contact info below and reference this thread for faster help.
Thanks for your patience.

No, the wire harness senses voltage and all calculations derive from each phase voltage sensing. You can monitor a dual pole breaker from a 3 phase system, but the device needs to be installed correctly accordingly to the number of phases of power in the panel. The installation has the details.

December 26, 2023 at 10:18 pm in reply to: When will we be able combine circuits? #10188 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffUsing 2 x 50A CTs in a dual pole breaker brings more accuracy (in case you’re not sure if the line is balanced) By our experience, we know solar lines and EV Chargers pull the same amperage from both phases, but that might not be the case for pumps or other appliances. You can test by adding 2 x 50A CTs to the circuit, one per leg, and running the appliance while checking the app, so you know if both sensors are pulling same amps or not and then device to use 1 CT and the multiplier to double the measurement, or 2 x 50A CTs and no multiplier.

The Emporia Gen 2 Vue 2 Energy Monitor works for 120/240V only.
100-240VAC 50-60Hz – here are the specs for reference:

emporiacsEmporia StaffHi, there is currently no status page as we’ve we’ve been focused on developing and improving our products. We’ve noted this feedback to the team.
Seconds data is only available for 3 hours if you’re exporting the CSV files, and if the app is opened, you can see real-time data updated every second. If the app is not opened, data will be an average over the minute.
December 22, 2023 at 5:38 pm in reply to: Ev Chargers with load management read power from 480VAC 3phase 3wire Delta panel #10175 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffAlso! Our charger ONLY supports 208 / 240VAC @ 50 / 60Hz.
emporiacsEmporia StaffThe dollar amount per charge is based on a default price per kWh. To change the cost per kWh in the app:
Select Menu (☰) in top left corner
Select Household Info under Settings
Select Set Utility Rate
Select the device you want to make changes to
The Utility rate will default to a manually entered value, to change that value simply edit the Cents per kWh field. Make sure to use whole cents ( i.e. 12.4¢ NOT .124 to calculate $0.124/kWh rate)December 18, 2023 at 2:22 pm in reply to: Ev Chargers with load management read power from 480VAC 3phase 3wire Delta panel #10167 Report AbuseemporiacsEmporia StaffHi Anthony,
Thanks for these details. Please contact our support team directly (referencing this thread) so they can talk through the specifics you’ve mentioned in detail with you.
