@Charlie it was great to speak with you over the phone earlier today. As discussed, we are working on several enhancements with the app and how we look at rates. The ultimate goal for Emporia is to be able to match your Utilities exact plan, thus we would be able to capture this large variance in what you get for putting energy back on the grid.
This is a large undertaking and we are working as fast as we can. At this time, we don’t have a release date.

Thanks!
Marty @EmporiaEmporia StaffHello @Chuck,
Thank you for the detailed information on your Vue readings and the comparison to your PG&E readings. I have forwarded this information on to our developers, as you have certainly pointed out some clear discrepancies. We will be following up as soon as we have more information to share with you. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to us if you have any further questions or concerns.

Marty @EmporiaEmporia StaffHi @kk07,
We make every attempt to notify our customers of planned database maintenance via email and our forum. On rare occasions, we need to do unplanned maintenance and on these rare occasions we do not send out notifications.
Thanks!
February 21, 2020 at 6:28 pm in reply to: Are small clamps from expansion module bidirectional? #5958 Report AbuseMarty @EmporiaEmporia StaffHello @kk07,
The 50A sensors are not directional and will measure current regardless of direction. These readings do not impact your net metering as the expansion ad the main Vue module are separately reporting. Some customers have put a “negative” multiplier to represent production when monitoring their solar circuits.
The load you see at night, is in fact from the inverters, however, since we assume 120v in our calculations the ~200 watts you are seeing is overstated. You can read more about this phenomenon by clicking on this link;

Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thanks!

MartyFebruary 6, 2020 at 11:17 pm in reply to: 240V (double-wide breaker) installation? #5920 Report AbuseMarty @EmporiaEmporia StaffHello Carlos, you are correct! The whole idea of the multiplier was to free up additional sensors.
February 6, 2020 at 11:15 pm in reply to: Introducing myself, personal software for displaying Emporia Vue data. #5919 Report AbuseMarty @EmporiaEmporia StaffWelcome to the forum Ric! It’s so exciting to see how you are using the energy data and integrating other data points. We are a small team, with limited resources. We are working on many feature enhancements and App improvements are on our roadmap, but right now we don’t have a specific release dates. We appreciate your feedback and hope you understand that we’re working very hard to prioritize the many enhancements that have been requested.
Marty @EmporiaEmporia StaffHello @mnrad,
There is no need to put a multiplier in for your main sensors. This feature was added so customers could adjust their voltage assumption to something other than 120v per phase.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Marty @EmporiaEmporia StaffHello @cwajciec, thanks for joining the forum! We currently have a bug in the app software as it relates to the multiplier for Volts. While the multiplier correctly multiplies the Watts, it incorrectly multiplies the AMP’s. The development team is currently working on fix and we hope to have it corrected soon.
January 30, 2020 at 9:53 pm in reply to: Ability to change currency in utility rate #5907 Report AbuseMarty @EmporiaEmporia StaffHello snassiff, thanks for taking the time to post your feedback on our forum. We are working on allowing for other currencies than the US dollar be entered into the household info, under Utility Rate. We are also working on push notifications under customer set parameters. We are a small team, with limited resources. Right now we don’t have a specific release date for these updates. We appreciate your feedback and hope you understand that we’re working very hard to prioritize the many enhancements that have been requested.
Marty @EmporiaEmporia StaffHello Mikey!
Welcome to the Emporia Forum! Thanks for your inquiry about our savings page.
Emporia holds aspirations of helping our customers save up to 50% on their energy costs through various strategies. You can read more about that at https://emporiaenergy.com/save-energy/. This starts by engaging customers with their energy usage through the Vue as well as presenting them with other energy savings opportunities.
As far as the current values in the app, the Lifetime Savings represents 5% of your usage (totaled across all of your Vues, if you have more than one), which is an estimate of what a conscientious energy-minded consumer using the Vue might save according to studies outlined in this post: https://emporiaenergy.com/benefits-real-time-energy-data/. The other numbers are simply what the average US household would save employing the savings strategies listed on the page. At this time, there is not a way to indicate that you have implemented these savings or impact the savings.
Admittedly, the Savings page is still a work in progress and probably a little frustrating. We apologize. We still want to help our customers reach these lofty savings goals and are working hard to make the Savings page more dynamic, interactive, and tailored to your specific experience in the near future.
