I have a hot tub too. The pump uses just one leg of the split phase. The heater uses both.
Can you place the CTs at the main panel where they go to the sub panel? That’s what I did.
yyzguyMemberI don’t see any way either.
do you have any 220vac split phase circuits where you’re only measuring one phase and using the multiplier? It’s common for some split phase circuits to be unbalanced (electric dryer is a common culprit because the drum uses just one of the hot lines)
Optionally, can you move one of your lower useage CTs to other circuits to try to locate the mystery?

August 21, 2022 at 7:36 pm in reply to: What does this mean? The wires are on separate breakers. #8787 Report AbuseyyzguyMemberThey need to be connected to breakers that are on different phases. Tandem breakers will have both connections on the same phase. It’s just a matter of moving one of your power connections to a different phase. There’s actually a diagram somewhere on their website about this
August 19, 2022 at 4:23 pm in reply to: Date Select when looking at Monthly charts #8782 Report AbuseyyzguyMemberIf you go to the management section and look under household settings there’s a place to set the billing date. That should take care of it. I’m not sure if it works retroactively
August 14, 2022 at 4:17 am in reply to: Safe to install 2-phase Vue on 3-phase house? #8767 Report AbuseyyzguyMemberWhere are you located? I believe 3 phase is almost nonexistent for residential use. Also, it sounds like you’re not very familiar with how electrical power works, so I’m concerned you might accidentally hurt yourself. You can get the screw cap at any hardware store and while your there find a scrap piece of romex and use one of the insulated wires to use for the short wire. Are you sure you have a 3 phase system?
yyzguyMember5.5kwh seems low for a month. Perhaps try turning on or off some loads and see look at the real-time data to see if it makes sense.
yyzguyMemberThe CTs appear to be installed properly. How many KWh do you see and what’s your setting for utility rate?
August 9, 2022 at 8:35 pm in reply to: Questions on installing in an RV single phase breaker panel #8748 Report AbuseyyzguyMemberThe smart plugs do store and keep historical data, just like the Vue. I’ve used them.
The flexible sensors are just that…flexible. Mine are installed and a bit squished, but they work fine. Indeed they require 12Vdc to operate the integrator circuitry. You should be able to power them from your house battery rather than the AC to DC converter https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogowski_coil
You could try ordering what you think you need and if it doesn’t work out, you can return them. I did that with the low profile sensors when the flexible sensors were out of stock. I wasn’t sure if they’d fit…they didn’t. They gave me a full refund. Once the flexible sensors were back in stock, I got those.

August 9, 2022 at 1:11 am in reply to: Questions on installing in an RV single phase breaker panel #8743 Report AbuseyyzguyMemberI’ll add that I have an RV and intentionally don’t attempt to run A/C and microwave at the same time. Typically we don’t need the microwave for very long, so it’s not a big deal to turn off the A/C during those times. My water heater is gas, so not sure how much draw those use. I’d think once the water is up to temperature it wouldn’t need much power to maintain temperature (until you use the water…then turn off other loads). Perhaps you have one of those fancy instant water heaters without a tank. Do those even work on electricity?

August 9, 2022 at 1:07 am in reply to: Questions on installing in an RV single phase breaker panel #8741 Report AbuseyyzguyMemberwhile I don’t have an answer to your question, I have a couple thoughts that might help.
For the microwave you could use one of the Smart Plugs instead of installing a Vue. Not sure if the Air conditioner or water heater use standard 120v outlets
In the panel, might the flexible sensors fit? I had to use them at home due to having busbars and I think they might fit better in a tight location. You might also check the low profile CTs, but I think the flexible sensors would likely work better.

yyzguyMemberWell, I spent about 30 minutes editing the previous post and adding additional information. Apparently there’s a time limit before no more edits are allowed.
Hopefully there’s enough information that it makes sense. Otherwise, if you have questions please post. If it’s too confusing, I’ll start over with a new post.
July 29, 2022 at 5:36 pm in reply to: Mounting the energy monitor in the breaker box #8733 Report AbuseyyzguyMemberI too installed mine at the top of the panel. I considered using mounting tape, but ultimately didn’t. Instead, I used one of those mounting things for zip ties and wrapped the zip tie around some of the cables which holds everything in place.
July 29, 2022 at 5:26 pm in reply to: I can read reply and can’t reply back even after login. #8732 Report AbuseyyzguyMemberI had this exact same problem one one device but not another. Clearing cookies for the emporiaenergy.com domain on the device that had problems fixed it for me. The method varies by browser. I do NOT recommend clearing all browser cookies (which seems to be a commonly suggested solution for web browser issues). Clear them only for the domain that’s giving you problems. Another option is to use a different browser or use “incognito” or “private” mode, which effectively doesn’t store cookies. That’s a good test to see if cookies are the problem
July 28, 2022 at 11:04 pm in reply to: Flexible current sensors (Rogowski coils) everywhere! #8730 Report AbuseyyzguyMemberOkay, thanks. I had no idea it took 2 years to bring those sensors to market. I’m glad to have found your system now instead of two years ago!
I sorta found about you guys quite by accident. Then as I was looking around for other solutions, was also surprised to see that nobody else seems to be doing what you’re doing. The closest thing I saw was a system for measuring mains only. They claim they can use AI to figure out what’s consuming power within the house….that seems like a stretch.
Anyway, with just a few days data I’ve learned quite a bit. I suspected my hot tub (23 years old) was using too much power, but it’s not. At least not during summer just running the circulation pump twice per day.
Thanks
yyzguyMemberWhat would be the reason to connect multiple CTs in parallel and connect them to the same line? I saw your earlier post about using an audio splitter, but I thought that was a mistaken attempt to connect two CTs in series.
