You can try and experiment. I found out the following:
The oven is fairly well balanced. So is the EV charger.
The Dryer is not – especially on energy saving mode, it will only use one of the taps. So what I do is only monitor that tap and use a multiplier like 1.7
For the Solar, I think one would be fine. For the baseboard – probably both if they are hooked on both sides and can be used indpependently.
currentdrawMemberI resolved that by moving the antenna to a different cutout. The wireless strength is shown on the screen when selecting WiFi network. So I kept moving the antenna and resetting the WiFi and checking the strength.

Turn on pressing the button.
January 29, 2021 at 4:44 pm in reply to: Multiple Vue’s: Set one as child on branch? #6763 Report AbusecurrentdrawMemberI second this. I have similar setup to yours, but the main has only solar and AC. I cannot even use Vue there since there is no breaker for it. But I am using the Vue utility connect and would be nice nesting the one from the house under it. Or I may install another Vue in the future if I can figure out how to supplypower tomorrow.

January 20, 2021 at 11:53 pm in reply to: Can I install in a main panel with no 15A breakers? #6720 Report AbusecurrentdrawMemberI have one in the subpanel already but the main is too far.
Cannot do the tapping in the main since the wires are too big.
I would need an adapter to power it from a plug.
I was thinking about installing a second unit there to monitor AC and solar which do not go via the subpanel.
currentdrawMemberIf I use 1.03 multiplier they get fairly close. The bill reflects the meter. 3% loss in the wire to the subpanel is not possible.
So either:
The smart meter is over charging.
Or
Vue2 underestimates by 3%.
I will try to test that by shutting down all devices and only use a device with known consumption, perhaps also metered with a plug meter.
currentdrawMemberThe Vue2 is supposed to mesure voltage, I believe. I talked to support and they feel that may be OK since I have it installed at a sub-panel.
But 4 % losses from panel to subpanel is a lot.
currentdrawMemberI have interference on one sensor since it registers even when the breaker is flipped.
Installation is very packed. I will be interested in ideas how to fix that.
December 19, 2020 at 11:38 pm in reply to: 240V (double-wide breaker) installation? #6631 Report AbusecurrentdrawMemberI am also having problems with the dryer and I suspect the multiplier approach does nor work with dryers.
What I see is some high usage when normal drying, but 0kWh, when on energy saving, and I tapped only one wire.
So probably what happens is that in energy saving, it only uses the 120v from one half of the plug, which is not the one that I happened to tap.
I will try to tap the other one also, though it is hard since I have half breakers.
The multiplier approach seems to work fine with EV charger, probably since that one mostly draws symmetrically.
