    Hey @efficiencynerd,

Would definitely love to see the repo for the tools you’re using. I’m currently working on organizing some community based resources to share with everybody. If you come across other tools, be sure to post ’em.

    Hey @slowride55,

The easiest option based on the photo provided, would be to follow the same steps outlined above (8b in the installation guide) and just use the last two breakers on the left of your panel. Feel free to post any other questions you might have!

    Hi @charlieseabird7-com,

We currently don’t support 120/208 wye installations for the Gen 2 Vue.

    Hey @kcole313 and @pharbrian,

Our team is aware of the requests for SmartThings integrations. I don’t have a timeline of when that feature may become available, but our team definitely has it on the radar.

    Hi @akballow,

I just checked w/ the development team and this is a feature that is under active development. Very much a high priority item here at Emporia. I would keep a lookout for the Application update to be available early summer for this feature.

    Hi @racer-x,

We shouldn’t be experiencing any issues at the moment related to the retrieval of data (and definitely not related to any changes in data retention). Would be happy to discuss in further detail if you’re still having issues. Reach out to support at anytime (via phone, chat or email) and we can help troubleshoot.  Thanks!

    @scrambler,

Yes, a proposed data subscription/API access is in the works and planned for a summer release. That alone won’t change the cloud-based data retention policy, but it should provide the appropriate resolution for customers looking to store data on their own for more detailed views. I’ll be sure to raise the concerns related to the amount of data saved on our end and ensure that our team is aware of the communities request in this regard.

As soon as we have more information available (regarding an API and support plan) we’ll be sure to provide those details to the community.

    Hey @duunoit,

You are correct about monitoring multi-pole circuits (and the issue w/ multipliers if the load is not balanced across the circuit).

The best way to remedy this situation would be to use two CT’s to monitor each leg if you have port/CT capacity with your current Vue installation. With this way the complete load is monitored (and each channel will record its own detail w/o the need for a multiplier). We’re currently working on a feature for the application to combine two circuit monitors into a single “monitor” data point, so for the time being, using two CT’s will show two circuits until the update is deployed. Let us know if you have any other questions!

    Hey @dunkirk,

Gen 3 is a ways out, but we’ll definitely be posting updates when it gets closer.

    Hi @skcolb,

The Gen 2 Vue currently has the following data usage metrics (found on the FAQ):

    • Gen 2 Vue two 200A (mains only): ~2.6 MB / day
    • Gen 2 Vue with two 200A mains plus eight 50A sensors: ~13 MB / day
    • Gen 2 Vue with two 200A mains plus sixteen 50A sensors: ~30.2 MB / day

As you can see, there is a direct relationship between the number of CT’s monitoring your circuits and the amount of data transferred daily. There aren’t any plans at the moment to customize data transmission rates, but I’ll mention it to the team.

The Vue is able to record data even when offline, but it can only buffer this data for a certain time period (~15mins) before it needs to send it up to the cloud. So as @scrambler mentioned, the Vue will attempt to upload whatever data it has to the cloud when it reconnects, but if that period has been too long then you’ll miss out on details, but will be able to see the cumulative amount (as long as the Vue doesn’t lose power).

Let us know if you have any other questions!

    Hey @pragmatist, @sir_wojak,

We’ve notified the team about the requested Circuit Types. Thanks!

    Hi @solarnerd,

I understand what you’re describing, but unfortunately given the fact that we only measure at the circuit level, its difficult to pull that number apart for appliance specific reporting. As both yourself and @waterboyz have mentioned, keeping track of this is best done outside of the app itself for the moment. We’re looking at different ways to add some data analytics/management for these kind of situations, but we don’t have any solutions at the moment that are pertinent enough to discuss in depth. The best way at the moment to manage the monitoring of specific loads would be to setup a Smart Plug for your appliance, and within the App, “nest” the Plug under the circuit (so that the Smart Plug data and Circuit data will coordinate). If you’d like pointers for how to set that up, feel free to reach out to support. Just one note, Smart Plugs are not available for heavy load appliances at the moment, so it wouldn’t be useful for an AC unit.

Regarding a limited character count in the description field, I’d be happy to pass that request onto the development team for consideration if desired.

    Thanks!

    Hey @sir_wojak,

I’ve notified the team of this behavior and they’re going to take a look. We’ll update with progress once we have more information. Thanks for the feedback!
